TAKE OUR ANONYMOUS SURVEY AND HELP US ADVOCATE FOR SURVIVORS ACROSS CALIFORNIA!
The choice to take legal action as a survivor of sexual violence is a personal choice. Survivors + Allies maintains that it is always up to the survivor to decide what is the best course of action for them and that a survivor should always have full autonomy over what their healing process may look like.
Survivors may pursue legal action for any number of reasons, including, but not limited to: obtaining a restraining order (such as a Private Postsecondary School Violence Restraining Order), pursuing civil recourse against perpetrators, pursuing legal action against institutions that did not adequately and lawfully protect the survivor, suing creators of AI-generated and image-based sexual abuse as per the DEFIANCE Act, and receiving legal advice to navigate their specific situation.
Below is a map of legal resources that may be helpful for UC survivors seeking legal advice and legal aid. Resources are categorized by UC region.
